There I was, sitting on the edge of my bed thinking, Okay, today is going to be a good—no, GREAT—day. And that starts with me actually getting up. 😴

Have you been there too? The struggle bus of mornings that just hit harder than usual?

I can confidently say I’m more of a morning person when I have a solid routine. And yes, I’ve worked hard at it (lots of affirmations went into that one). But I’m also human—so that means I’m not perfect. I’ve slept through alarms, justified skipping things, procrastinated because “tomorrow” feels like a fresh start… But if I’ve learned anything, it’s this: if I want growth and change, I have to take 100% responsibility for me. (Cue the inspirational soundtrack.) 🎶

Ask anyone close to me—especially my husband—and they’ll tell you I’m a pretty disciplined person. Maybe it came from the performance pressure of my academic years, growing up with a little perfectionism, or the discipline I gained from years of Tae Kwon Do. Whatever it was, I’m thankful for it.

That said, I’ve been seriously tested in the routine department ever since becoming a mom. My daughter is five months old now (and truly, what was I doing with my time before she got here?! 😵‍💫). But now that she’s here, having a solid morning routine is more important than ever—it sets the tone for my whole day.

So let’s dive into what my “THAT Girl” morning routine looks like, step-by-step. And no, it’s not a secret miracle cure—but it sure feels pretty close. One thing I know for sure: if YOU don’t run your day, the clock will. And sis, it’s up to you to change things.

This post is inspired by the “THAT Girl” routine trend—which I love! Whether it’s your morning, afternoon, or night routine, I believe more and more women are craving structure that supports their mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth. And I’m here for it. After five-plus years of building habits and staying consistent, I can honestly say that discipline is a form of self-love. I feel the difference when I skip out on it: I’m more moody, irritable, indecisive, foggy, and just plain off. (Pray for my patient husband 🙏🏻)

So here’s my encouragement to you: create your own “THAT Girl” routine—something that fills your cup and makes you feel like a million bucks. Because you deserve to feel that way every day. Even if you fall off the wagon (I’m picturing Oregon Trail vibes here), get back on! Your future self (and your babies, if you have ’em) will thank you.

My THAT Girl Morning Routine 🎀💖

Wake Up on the First Alarm (8:00 AM)

Am I perfect at this? Nope. Do I fall down and get back up? Absolutely. One tip that helps me: if I’m up—stay up. It’s way harder to fall back asleep and start over. Pick a wake-up time the night before and commit to it. You’ve got this, babe.

Lemon Water Before Caffeine 🍋

This one’s new for me, but I’m loving it! Lemon water first thing in the morning has so many benefits, and after just a week I’ve already noticed better clarity and less morning fog. Bonus: try holding off on coffee or energy drinks for the first couple of hours—hydration is PRIMO.

Natural Light & Fresh Air ☀️

Sunshine, sunshine, sunshine! There’s real science behind circadian rhythm support. Getting outside (even for five minutes) helps reset your body and mind.

Nourish & Move Your Body 🏃🏻‍♀️

It could be a gym session, a walk around the block, or gentle stretching—just get the blood flowing. I also like to have a small snack beforehand, like fruit or a protein bar, so my body is fueled.

Listen to a Good Podcast 🎧

I’m a big believer in positive input. What you think about, listen to, and say out loud really does shape your day. I love personal growth podcasts like Ed Mylett or Mel Robbins. Audiobooks work too—just be intentional with what you’re feeding your mind.

Change Into Productive Clothes 👖

This one gets me every time. If I stay in pajamas or sweats, it’s bad news bears. Changing into gym clothes or my daytime outfit signals my brain it’s time to be productive. (Fun fact: even my 5-month-old daughter knows it’s bedtime when she changes into her nightie—kids know what’s up!)

Devotional, Prayer & Journaling 📖

This is a non-negotiable for me. I talk more about the power of devotionals in [this blog post HERE]. Journaling helps me clear my head and start fresh.

Affirmations 💬

Speak life over yourself. Seriously. The words you say out loud become what you believe. Be kind to yourself, friend. You matter, and you’re important. (Follow my Pinterest and Instagram for more affirmation inspo!)

Intentional Background Music 🎵

Whether it’s calm worship music or just soft instrumental, it helps me focus—especially if intrusive thoughts creep in. Some mornings I enjoy the quiet, but when I need it, this music really grounds me.

Overview Your To-Do List for the Day 📝

This is where I set my intention. I don’t overload my plate—just 2–3 key things I’d love to accomplish. Pro tip: prep your to-do list the night before to save that morning brain power. Game. Changer.

I hope this “THAT Girl” routine inspires you to create your own version—one that fills your cup and makes you feel like your most radiant, capable self.

Take what resonates, tweak what you need, and let me know if you try any of these gems (gold stars if you do them all!). Let’s make 2025 the year of YOU: healthy, upgraded, and authentically aligned. And remember—it all starts with a morning routine that works for you.

Until next time,
XOXO 💛
